Beginning Machine Quilt Two day class –
Monday and Tuesday
This class was
designed with the true beginner in mind, a lecture and hands-on workshop on
free-motion quilting. This workshop
will cover layering, basting, threads, batting, and how to manipulate the quilt,
plus the best designs for your quilts. Heavy
emphasis is on designs that do not have to be marked. (This
class will be held at the 4H building). Supply
List Beginning students
will use a prepared kit to learn the basics of free-motion quilting.
The most important
part of this class is the darning foot! Try
it out on your machine before coming to class.
Most sewing machine stores can order a darning foot for almost any
machine. Start early if you don’t
have one-sometimes it takes a month or more to get the right one.
Note: Sometimes they know
this foot as the “free-motion foot” or the “quilting foot”-but it is NOT
the walking foot. Students are
encouraged to bring one quilt top to class to discuss possible quilting
designs…as time allows. |
