JOYCE LAWRENCE CAMBRON spent her childhood summers in Idaho logging camps, and now fosters her love for trees and rivers by spending time in the tiny back-country community of Atlanta.  Throughout her life, she pursued various arts and crafts media until finding her vocation as a quilter in the early ‘90s.  Her quilts have been accepted in AQS, APNQ and IQA shows; and have won many awards in local shows.   Joyce maintains her connection with the quilting world by working part-time for a Boise-based internet outlet for fabric and quilters’ notions; by teaching her personally-developed technique for curved piecing in local shops; and by serving on the board of her quilt guild.  She’s excited about developing new patterns and uses for her technique, and hopes her students will take her enthusiasm for curved piecing home for use in their own original projects.

Spinning Cartwheel

Three day class – Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday
Confident beginner - $195.00

This wall hanging was inspired by Judy Mathieson’s Cartwheel design, with curved piecing adding a sense of motion.  It’s also evocative of the traditional Giant Dahlia designs, but can be stitched by machine with great ease using basting glue such as Roxanne’s or Aleene’s tacky glues.  The intent of the class is to inspire students to tackle any curved-piecing project with confidence.

The 30” or 36” center medallion is surrounded by your unique pieced border, stitched using freezer paper foundations.   If you love the precision of paper piecing but hate the hassle of removing the paper, you may find this class a life-changing event.  Your 42” square or larger, finished project makes a beautiful wall hanging or baby quilt depending on your fabric choices.  (This class will be held at the 49’er Inn and Suites).
